Dendrobium Victorea Regina, Species
in Antique Chinese Wooden Planter, c. 1890
|
Named in Queen Victoria's honor for her Golden Jubilee, these violet crown-like orchids, with their delicate strength, were brought from the mountains of the Philippines to Europe's ruling class during the height of orchid fever. This regal little plant flowers three times a year for over a month with six to ten blooms perching loftily atop each spiraling stem, its green ladder of leaves propping up her sides like laidies-in-waiting.
Accentuate the beauty of your potted Dendrobium Victorea Regina in this antique Chinese planter from the province of Shanxi in Northeastern China. This genuine piece is more than 100 years old.
