The Vanda mokara’s rare and striking blossoms, speckled with burgundy and crimson red, are shown here in a hand-blown vase of scarlet crystal, a bubble blown into its clear, weighted base. Created in Singapore in 1969, Mokara is a trigeneric hybrid between Arachnis, Ascocentrum, and Vanda combines the most outstanding characteristics of each parent: fine flower shape and color from Vanda, and rapid growth from Arachnis Ascocenda.
